John Stanley

John Stanley

John Stanley is an evangelist, called to draw the church to the lost and the lost to Christ.

He was commissioned as a Church Army Evangelist in 1988.

John and his wife Alison have served in a parish in Melbourne; a Café ministry building community among the homeless in Kings Cross, Sydney; and in the USA helping to restart a rustbelt steel town. In the USA, John purchased a condemned building in the centre of a rundown and abandoned retail district, rebuilding with volunteers and mission teams to create a vibrant café as a focus for numerous social enterprises, focussing flood recovery services and reigniting commerce in the city centre. He was awarded the Martin Luther King Award for community service, as well as congressional recognition and the ‘keys for the City of Aliquippa’ for his work in Pennsylvania.

He is now ordained, serving in a Hobart parish, helping to reorient the church ministry toward families.
